Description
Membership in The Meriwether Society, Inc. is open to anyone. Dues are $20 per year or $50 for three years.
Lifetime dues are $300 if the authenticated member is 65 or older, $500 if the authenticated member is 40–64 years old. Lifetime membership is not available until the member is 40 years old. The age is for the actual descendant/member, not the spouse or institution. If both members are descendants, then either one can be used to satisfy the age requirement.
Each includes a quarterly newsletter, Meriwether Connections, that reports on family activities and ongoing research into the Meriwether line.
Members who have not been authenticated as a direct descendant of Nicholas Meriwether I are Associate Members; the only restrictions are that they may not vote for Society officers or hold an elected office.
Regular (voting) Membership is restricted to those (and their spouses) who can prove descent from Nicholas Meriwether I.
Your confirmation package will contain information on how to become an Authenticated Descendant of Nicholas Meriwether I, and therefore a Regular Member of the Society.
Other than Society voting rights and the ability to hold elected Society offices, Associate and Regular Members receive the same benefits and information.
